The Wordsmiths

The Wordsmiths evening group is led by professional writer and creative writing tutor, Julie McKiernan. During the workshops, you will receive positive and constructive feedback on your own writing with advice about how to develop it further.

You will also be given a wide range of different stimuli and learn how to apply different styles and techniques in practical writing exercises. You don't need to be experienced just keen to share and develop your work which can be poetry, prose, script or non-fiction. There are further opportunities to share your work in group anthologies and live reading events.

Please note that the group meets at The Coffee Stop cafe in Railway Road in a room which is up a flight of stairs with no lift available so, unfortunately, it isn’t suitable for those with mobility issues.

The Paperback Writers

A friendly, informal group of local people who meet to talk about local history, share their life stories, and enjoy a brew, a biscuit and a good chat. Expect a lot of digression and laughter!
