Healthy Arts

Healthy Arts are delighted to announce that, in partnership with Wigan Council Archives Service and Bedford High School, we have been awarded £42,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) Young Roots programme for an exciting new project, Remembering Grammar School Education in Leigh. Made possible by money raised from National Lottery players, the 12-month project will explore the memories of former students 40 years after the schools closed and share them with current pupils and the community in celebratory events and workshops.

I am Chair of Healthy Arts, a not-for-profit group of local professional artists in the Wigan borough who:

– provide a wide range of creative arts-based activities and training opportunities for people who are, or maybe at risk of experiencing physical and / or mental health problems

– promote access, participation and recovery by helping people to feel involved and to regain confidence, self-esteem, social and communication skills and emphasise what people can discover by themselves

– increase individual capacity for innovation and learning, problem solving and leadership skills, develop creative skills and discover new areas of creative expression, to nurture aspiration
