Last Production/Project

During the autumn months I worked with Merry Hell musician, and fellow Healthy Arts artist, Bob Kettle. Together we helped the Catching Creativity group members in Bolton to devise an improvised drama piece and write an original song. Both were performed to an invited audience at Bolton Little Theatre on 06.12.17.

Over the summer I worked with older Southport residents exploring and responding to the Natural History Collection at The Atkinson Museum in Southport as part of Encountering the Unexpected project. The exhibition opened on 30.09.17 on the top floor of the museum as part of the exploration of the Sefton coast and will be on display for the forseeable future.

I thoroughly enjoyed directing and producing my short script, ‘Women’s Work’ about the female workers at The Spinners mill in Leigh during WW1 for the Leigh Canal Festival on 8th, 9th & 10th September 2017. The play was funded by the Deal for Armed Forces WW1 Commemoration Fund and was performed by Platform actors.

It was fascinating to see the range of work produced by contributors to Live from Worktown’s new anthology for autumn 2017, inspired by the Worktown Mass Observation project and the Bill Naughton collection at Bolton Library. Supporting them in editing and refining their work was both interesting and enjoyable.

I was very proud to be part of the Time To Change: Suicide Pevention workshop which accompanied the premiere of ‘On The Edge’, the film of my script at The Sunderland Shorts Festival 2017. If the film helps to save just one life it will make everyone’s hard work worthwhile. See trailer for film:

It was a privilege and a joy to work with Dramatic Action on their Hate Crime 2017 project funded by CVS Bolton.
